Power by the people, not to the people; forthcoming AGM
Firstly, many thanks to Cllr Gordon Nardell for his letter to The Guardian [17 July 2009] celebrating all the energy-wise activities developing in Peckham and Nunhead, and emphasising the need for active communiity involvement in the development of renewable energy.

Secondly, Radio 4's Costing the Earth explored just this issue recently. It compared a rural community in Sussex with little to no community involvement in the renewable energy installation with Orkney where community involvement is far higher. Fascinating listening. Still available at:

We're currently organising our AGM, which will be a combination of a meeting to decide our constitution, plus a presentation about SMART grids and how we can contribute to that locally. We're waiting for our invited event openers to confirm their availability, but the AGM will be in the afternoon [following refreshments] either on Sat 14 November, Sat 21 November or Sat 28 November. More details as soon as our opening speakers are confirmed.
Best wishes,
Anna, Jack, Lesley and Matthew
